Oakwood Covert offers a rare opportunity to purchase a well-managed, traditional British woodland, which can provide not only an endless supply of firewood but also a beautiful and tranquil place to explore, relax and unwind.
Situated in Goring Heath in The Chilterns, the property is 1.5 miles to the south of the village of Woodcote in south Oxfordshire. It lies centrally within an area dominated by mature woodland consisting almost entirely of native hardwoods.
It is approximately 8 miles from Junction 12 of the M4 and 17 miles from Junction 6 of the M40.
Oakwood Covert is a block of predominantly level woodland extending to about 20.7 acres. It is almost entirely ring-fenced by good quality post and rail, which has been erected in the last two years
The woodland consists primarily of native broadleaf tree species with oak and beech predominating, but also includes ash, birch, wild cherry, holly and hazel amongst others. The woodland is classed as part Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland and part Plantation on Ancient Woodland Site. It also benefits from an impressive display of Bluebells in the Spring. It has been managed under a continuous cover regime through regular thinning, which benefits the retained trees, encourages natural regeneration and allows more light to the woodland floor to encourage understory establishment.
The property also benefits from three concrete slabs, formerly used for military storage, which now offer a variety of potential uses. Two are parallel to the B4528 and the third is located up the track to the west of the property where the main access is located.
